Math 6314 Asymtotic analysis
Description
Many problems in mathematics are asymptotic in nature. Therefore, it is desirable to give special training in asymptotics to students who have only general knowledge of analysis. The purpose of this graduate special topics course is to explain standard asymptotic methods and provide a number of important examples in detail. The course will equip students with powerful techniques, help them to recognise asymptotic approximations that arise in their every day analytical and computational work, and to deal with such approximations consciously and efficiently.
Prerequisites
Solid undergraduate background in analysis.
