The main theme of the course is the study of fundamental groups of
topological spaces. The topics of the course include van-Kampen
theorem, classification of covering spaces, group actions by deck
transformations, and existence of classifying spaces. The last part of
the course includes a brief introduction to higher dimensional
homotopy groups including tools such as Whitehead's theorem and
Hurewicz theorem.
