History Signs
In 1999 work began on the Memorial University Visitor Walk on the St. John’s campus. The Johnson Family Foundation, in association with the Grand Concourse Authority, funded the project. A series of interpretive panels designed to highlight the historical and institutional features of the campus were installed along the path. The walkway was completed in 2000 to coincide with the university’s 75th anniversary.
The Visitor Walk is now a part of the Grand Concourse Walkway, a network of nearly 100 kilometres of trails that stretch across the City of St. John’s and into the Town of Paradise.
Other interpretive panels have been designed and installed since. The most recent panel was unveiled on June 29, 2018, at Memorial’s original Parade Street campus in St. John’s.
You can view all the interpretive panels below and find the locations of the panels on our campus map.
