Kathy Gillett
Coordinator, Bachelor of Science in Nursing Collaborative Program
Kathy Gillett, MSN, is the Coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Collaborative program located at the Labrador Campus.
She was born and raised in Wabush, NL. Kathy graduated in 1989 from the Diploma of Nursing program at the Grace General Hospital in St. John’s NL and was registered as a nurse that same year. Since then she completed a Bachelor of Nursing through Athabasca University and a Master of Science in Nursing through Trinity Western University. Kathy is also an alumni of Memorial University with a Bachelor of Education (post-secondary) completed in 2017. Kathy has worked in a variety of nursing fields while living and working in different provinces across Canada. These include general acute care, northern nursing, maternity, public health, gerontology (residential long term care and rehab), education, and infection control. She is an experienced educator teaching at the College of the North Atlantic for five offerings of the practical nursing program and working for several years as a clinical educator at the long term care home in Happy Valley Goose Bay. Kathy is excited to now coordinate and instruct the first cohort of students in the collaborative BScN program at the Labrador Campus of Memorial University.
Kathy, her husband and three children (all now adults) have resided in Happy Valley Goose Bay since 2005. Kathy enjoys reading, walking, and video chatting with her granddaughter who is located in Gander. She has co-organized several Walk for Alzheimer’s events, and is active in her local church helping with multimedia and serving on the board.
