In her post-retirement years, she has added painting to her craft practices, which has turned into a serious hobby. Her folk paintings depict iconic Newfoundland scenes including natural landscapes and activities such as mummering. These works are on display throughout her home. Ruth Pilgrim discusses a range of craft skills including rug-hooking, knitting, painting, quilting, cross-stitching, and crocheting.
