Tell your Story!

History Ph.D student Emma Lang, in conjunction with the QE II Map Room is developing an exhibit of objects members of the MUN community brought from home. The exhibit aims to highlight the ordinary items that remind us of where we come from and promote cross cultural conversations.

We are looking for items from across Canada, (including NL) and Around the World!

Do you have an object you would be interested in sharing?

Send an email to el4456@mun.ca that includes:

  • your name (only first names will be included in the exhibit)
  • your connection to MUN (student, faculty, staff etc.)
  • where you are from (town, province/region/state, country)
  • a short description of the object (include the size if it isn’t obvious)
  • a short description of the significance of the object (why you brought it, what it means to you)

We are looking for any type of object that reminds you of home be it a book, a kitchen tool, an accessory or garment, a toy, a piece of art, mementos, a religious item, even empty packets of your food from home that you saved. We are NOT interested in photos of family and friends.

Anyone in the MUN community is welcome to participate, including students, faculty & staff

The small print:

Objects will be chosen from among those submitted.  Items will be displayed in a locked case along with a label identifying them and a map showing the location of their origin in relation to St John’s. The dates for the exhibit have yet to be finalized but objects will be on loan for a minimum of two weeks. A loan document will be issued.
