Presenters: Marie Smith-Solbakken, Professor of History, University of Stavanger and Hans-Jørgen Wallin Weihe, Professor of Social Work, Lillerhammer University College, Norway
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Location: Maritime History Archive (HH1013)
Description: How have state revenues from oil extraction been used in Norway? This presentation draws attention to regional differences as well as the situation of the northern fishing communities and to the Saami who provide many of the industry's workers. It discusses the policy that emanates from a social democratic tradition, contrasting that with the technocrat and judicial traditions of the state bureaucracy.
