New Book Shortlisted for Major Prize
Why Did We Choose to Industrialize? Montreal, 1819-1849 by Robert Sweeny has been nominated for the Governor General’s prize in history. Known as the Sir John A. Macdonald Prize, it is awarded annually by the Canadian Historical Association to the work it judges to have made the most significant contribution to an understanding of the Canadian past. The History Department sends congratulations to Professor Sweeny (currently away on sabbatical) for this accomplishment! Copies of the book are available at Broken Books on Duckworth Street in St. John's.
