Henrietta Harvey lecture and panels
A series of interdisciplinary panels on ocean histories will take place at the occasion of the visit of the 2020 Henrietta Harvey lecturer, Dr. Helen Rozwadowski.

Session 1: Ocean Paradigms, Ocean Ethics

Brad de Young (Ocean Sciences): “Changing Paradigms of Oceanography and Seeing Human/Ocean Interactions,” Brett Favaro (Ocean Sciences): “Climate at the Center of Ocean Studies”, Carina Ramm (Humanities): “Research Ethics: The Ignored Leviathans”, and Heather Lynn Elliott (Anthropology): “Inland Shipwrecks – The Reach of Ocean and Maritime Culture”.
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Location: IIC-3001 (Genesis Boardroom)
Description: This is the first of four scheduled panels to be held in conjunction with the Henrietta Harvey Public Lecture with Dr. Helen Rozwadowski. After the session, from 2:30-2:45 p.m., there will be a coffee break, tea, and sandwiches provided.

Henrietta Harvey Pulic Lecture: Writing Ocean Histories:

Description: This year's Henrietta Harvey Public Lecture is Writing Ocean Histories with Dr. Helen Rozwadowski, Professor of History and Maritime Studies at the University of Connecticut and author of the 2018 book Vast Expanses: A History of the Oceans. The lecture will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Emera Innovation Exchange at 100 Signal Road in St. John's, in the main conference hall (B2007). There is complimentary parking at the building in areas 200 and 201. This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Sociology, the Department of Classics, the Department of History and the Maritime Studies Research Unit at Memorial University.
