Ewart A. Pratt Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Newfoundland and Labrador Military, Naval and Maritime History.

Memorial University’s Department of History invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship. It is valued at $36,000 per annum (paid on a bi-weekly basis and pro-rated over the duration of the fellowship) and will normally start on 1 September of the year in which it is awarded. Applicants must have successfully defended their PhD before taking up the fellowship. An appropriate supervisor will be identified during the application process.

That person will also have the opportunity to work with scholars engaged in a broad range of research related to maritime history, the history of Europe, the Americas, empire, war and society, and the environment. There may also be an opportunity to teach in the Department of History. Where possible, preference will be given to candidates interested in the areas of Newfoundland and Labrador military, naval, and maritime history.

The deadline for applications is 31 March 2023. Applicants should submit a letter of application, a two-page statement identifying how this position contributes to their research interests and potential areas of collaboration with others in the Department of History, and their curriculum vitae.
