Annual Asbestos Air Monitoring Reports
Monitoring for airborne asbestos is conducted on an annual basis. Such sampling meets requirements of MUNFA collective agreement. Air samples are collected in approximately 84 locations on the St. John’s campus and each sample is analyzed for asbestos fibres. The sampling results are compared with the threshold limit value of 0.1 fibres/cc which is the exposure limit established by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists and referenced in the NL Occupational Health and Safety Regulations section 42(7)(c). All sampling results are within the exposure limit for asbestos and therefore considered to be acceptable. The following reports summarize the results of monitoring for airborne asbestos fibres.
