All Canadian students travelling to Harlow Campus to complete a study abroad program for less than 6 months that does not include any form of work i.e. paid/unpaid internship or Clinical Rotation will not require a VISA to enter the UK.

Before students travel to Harlow they will be provided with a letter of invitation (by their program leader) that they will need to show at UK Border Control when they enter the UK which will allow them to enter as a visitor for up to 6 months. If a student decides to travel outside of the UK whilst at Harlow, they will need to take this letter of invitation with them to show at UK Border Control every time they re-enter the UK.

Students coming to study in the UK for over 6 months and those undertaking an unpaid internship or clinical rotation at Harlow Campus for less than 6 months, who are not in possession of a UK passport, will need to apply for a VISA to allow them to work in the UK. Please check with your program leader/co-ordinator if this applies to you.

Students undertaking a paid/unpaid internship or clinical rotation require a work VISA and may be eligible for UKVI’s Tier 5 - Youth Mobility Scheme. Students must be Canadian citizens between the ages of 18-30 (at time of application) and complete a self-assessment online to ensure they are eligible to apply. Students applying for a Tier 5 – Youth Mobility Scheme VISA will need to book a biometrics appointment at a clinic where you will have digital fingerprints and photographs taken as a part of the visa process for the UK. Memorial University provide a mobile biometric clinic in St John’s at certain times throughout each year.
