MacEdward Leach and the Songs of Atlantic Canada

Curling, once known as Birchy Cove, is located on the western coast of Newfoundland, near the town of Corner Brook. The area was first settled in the 1700s by immigrants from England and families from the south coast of Newfoundland, most of whom were attracted by the salmon fishery and, later, by the growing sawmill industry.

Today Curling is recognized as a predominantly residential community that falls within the municipal jurisdiction of Corner Brook. Leach collected from Mrs. Stephen Rowsell while in Curling.
