Elizabeth Avenue entrances/exits in front of Arts and Administration building temporarily closing, Nov. 6
To facilitate the next stage of the ongoing City of St. John’s Elizabeth Avenue Upgrades project, Facilities Management is advising of a temporary closure of both Elizabeth Avenue entrances/exits in front of the Arts and Administration building beginning on Nov. 6, 2023. Drivers can access parking areas near the Arts and Administration (including permitted lots 1 and 1A) and exit campus through parking area 15B near Music. Additional signage and speedbumps will be in placed along the route to promote safe driving in the area. Russel Road and Elizabeth Avenue from Rodney Street to Allandale Road/Bonaventure Avenue will be reopened to facilitate traffic flow in the area. Also during this stage, the Printing Services exit-only will be temporarily changed to two-way traffic to allow for access to parking area 36 via Elizabeth Avenue eastbound. Please see this map of the area to view the road closures (local traffic only), suggested detours and Memorial’s temporary, two-way traffic locations. This work is anticipated to be ongoing until the end of the construction season (approximately the end of November/early December).
Drivers are urged to pay attention in the area and around campus, reduce speed and obey all signage and directions given by construction personnel. Pedestrians in the area should also use extra caution. Campus Enforcement and Patrol is increasing its presence in the area to ensure traffic observes posted signage and regulations. For more details or questions related to the Elizabeth Avenue project, please contact the City of St. John’s. Facilities Management and the Parking Office appreciate your patience and co-operation during this time and thank you for your attention to maintain safe roadways.
