Education building updates - elevator lift, tunnel and door 8
Facilities Management advises that the elevator lift in the Education building locker tunnel is experiencing an extended outage and will remain closed until approximately mid-Fall. The contractor has encountered a delivery delay for required parts to complete repairs. A further update on a reopening date will be provided when available. The suggested exterior route to the Education building is via Pedagogues Close starting at IIC (Bruneau Centre), which has an elevator up from the tunnels. IIC also links to the Arts and Science buildings (marked in yellow on the map below). Alternatively, from the main entrance of the Education building traveling in front of the building towards the Core Science Facility, individuals can turn right down a walkway (slight decline) travelling along the north side of Education and then crossing the parking lot to a walkway passing along the Prince Philip Parkway facing the side of QEII Library and re-entering the tunnels close to the base of the clock tower marked in red on this map). Impacted individuals are encouraged to speak with their supervisor, professor or the Blundon Centre to make arrangements. Additionally, if this outage causes you accessibility concerns, please call Campus Enforcement and Patrol at 709-864-8561 for assistance.
The section of tunnel between the main locker tunnel and the Education building’s locker tunnel has reopened. The exterior construction area near the Education building’s door eight continues and this door will remain closed for the duration of work until approximately the end of next week, Sept. 8 (weather dependent).
