News

Starting on Monday, Dec. 8, contractors will start trench work on both sides of the Annex and Diving facility at the Ocean Sciences Center affecting the service road and slipway. The project is expected to continue through to approximately Jan. 9, 2026. Campus users are asked to adhere to posted signage and use alternate routes through the affected area during the duration of the project. Vehicle access will be limited to essential access only. Pedestrian access will be maintained for all users of the affected buildings.  Facilities Management appreciates your patience and cooperation while it undertakes this important maintenance work.  Please contact Scott Crase, Facilities Management at 709-864-7262 if you have any further questions or concerns.

In light of increasing labour costs, Facilities Management labour rates for chargeable services increased by 3 per cent effective Oct. 1, 2025. Thereafter, an annual increase will be in effect the start of each fiscal year, beginning April 1, 2026. The rates have not increased since 2019 and this increase is necessary to keep pace with escalating costs.
