Dorcas Annung Akrong

 

Dorcas is an Oil and Gas Engineering Ph.D. student at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her research area is injecting novel Nanoparticle-based Foam for Enhanced Oil Recovery. She holds a master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja-Nigeria, and a bachelor’s degree in Mineral Engineering from Western University College of KNUST now University of Mines and Technology), Tarkwa-Ghana.

Dorcas has over 11 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with significant exposure to reservoir engineering and success with increasing operational efficiencies for petroleum firms. She has excellent analytical and managerial skills with solid engineering fundamentals demonstrated through work experience and academic achievement. Her work experiences have been gathered over the years working with Schlumberger (now SLB) in Ghana and covering the Sib-Saharan African countries for Reservoir simulation training and support jobs. She later joined the National Oil Company in Ghana, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, where she rose from Reservoir Engineer to Principal Reservoir Engineer, working mainly on Pre-development Assets and some producing Assets in the country.

She brings on board the MUN Student’s Society of Petroleum Engineers valuable experiences from the different chapters she has joined both in Nigeria and Ghana. She hopes, together with her team, to make this chapter one of the best chapters across the globe.
