Our Department
Welcome to Process Engineering at Memorial University
Transforming materials into higher-value products, like milk to cheese or crude oil to gasoline, is what process engineering is all about. It is a diverse discipline that looks at the processing of petrochemical, oil, gas, minerals, food, and other natural resources to obtain value in a sustainable manner. In the Department of Processing Engineering at Memorial, we cover process engineering in all industries with a focus on oil and gas and mineral processing, as these are crucial to our local and Canadian economies.
We have a welcoming and engaging community of undergraduate and graduate students. We are proud to offer a mandatory co-op program in which students receive hands-on training and experience working in different industries for our undergraduate students. This kind of exposure to real-life engineering provides a foundation for success as an engineer.
As a student, you’ll have the opportunity to learn in state-of-the-art laboratories and participate in dynamic research projects that are changing the future of engineering. Our faculty is multidisciplinary and specializes in the areas of bioprocessing and mineral processing, safety and risk, oil and gas production, and system design for harsh environments.
I welcome you to browse our website to learn more about our program, department, and research streams. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or other faculty members in the department. I wish you the best of luck in your engineering studies.
We are here to help you succeed.
