Susan Caines
Introduction
Susan Caines completed her PhD work in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She received her MSc. in Engineering from Purdue University and her BEng in Metallurgy from Dalhousie University. Dr. Caines earned her professional engineer designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) through 12 years with General Motors of Canada Ltd, New Brunswick Research and Productivity Council, and The Iron Ore Company of Canada. She is now a member of PEGNL.
Dr. Caines’ leads the C-RISE Asset Integrity Management (AIM) research group whose research include Corrosion and Asset Integrity modelling of process components in marine environments. This includes both field and laboratory experimentation and development of asset integrity models to improve safety and reduce operating costs.
Susan is a full time faculty member with the School of Ocean Technology at the Marine Institute and cross appointed to Memorial University's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Department of Process Engineering.
Research Interests
Research interests include Asset Integrity Management, Marine Corrosion and Corrosion under Insulation (CUI).
