Samith Rathnayaka
I received my bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Then I obtained a master's degree in Safety and Risk Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada.
After finishing the graduate work at MUN, I started working as a Research and Project Engineer of the Vale Safety and Risk Management Project. The objective of the project is to assist Vale to improve their safety and risk assessment program through the advancement and application of new techniques in the development of an effective safety management system. I have been involving with both project and research activities to deliver all project milestones as scheduled.
My research focuses on the modeling of the process accident using safety barriers, safety barrier performance analysis, and quantitative risk assessment. Currently I am involving with the dynamic risk assessment and real time monitoring.
