Human Rights Policy
Work is currently ongoing for the establishment of Memorial’s first human rights policy. This policy will establish a clear and comprehensive framework for promoting and protecting human rights in the Memorial University communities.
The Human Rights Policy will operate in conjunction with, and where applicable, enhance the provisions in the university's existing commitments. The policy will also reflect Memorial’s responsibility and commitment to complying with federal and provincial human rights legislation.
Human Rights Policy available for a second round of consultation
Memorial University’s first-ever Human Rights Policy is now available on the Policy Office website.
We invite all members of the university community to review the draft policy and share your valuable feedback. The policy will remain open for feedback until November 6, 2025. Your voice is important to us, and we are committed to ensuring that the perspectives of the University Community are heard and reflected in this landmark policy. October 7, 2025
The office of the Vice-Provost, EDI-AR, is pleased to announce that we have published the Human Rights Policy draft for public review. The office asks the university community to provide feedback on this landmark policy. The policy will remain open for feedback until November 6, 2025. View the Human Rights Policy Draft.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR) is pleased to announce the proposed Human Rights Policy, now open for consultation in accordance with the university’s Policy Framework. We invite all members of the university community to review the proposed policy and share your comments with the Policy Office at policy@mun.ca by December 7, 2024.

August 27, 2021
Dr. Delores V. Mullings was appointed as Memorial University’s first Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism, effective August 27, 2021, for a five-year term.
Late 2019
The position of a Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism was approved by the Board of Regents after a recommendation by Memorial’s Employment Equity and Diversity Plan.
Transforming Our Horizons
Memorial University’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism is reflected at the institutional level in the core strategic plan, Transforming Our Horizons.
