The Foreword

The Foreword is Memorial’s new teaching and learning newsletter for faculty and instructors. It's a space for sharing the ideas, insights and experiences that shape how you teach and learn. Published online five times per academic year by CITL, each issue of The Foreword invites reflection, conversation and connection across our teaching community.

Every article in each issue of The Foreword is grounded in evidence, informed by experience and written with Memorial’s teaching context in mind. Article topics range from new pedagogical approaches and classroom innovations to reflective essays and research spotlights—all aimed at supporting meaningful, engaged and inclusive teaching and learning.

Readers of The Foreword can expect:

  • Thought leadership grounded in research and practice.
  • Voices from across Memorial sharing perspectives on teaching and learning.
  • Practical takeaways and ideas to inspire reflection and experimentation.
  • Connections to national and international conversations in higher education.

Our first issue is now available! Please check it out today, and subscribe to our LinkedIn newsletter.

Why The Foreword?

Just as a book's foreword sets the stage for what’s to come, The Foreword frames the ongoing story of teaching and learning at Memorial. This newsletter, and the articles published in each issue, are about looking ahead and exploring what’s next in our classrooms, programs and academic practices.
