Curriculum renewal service
Memorial’s academic units provide subject matter expertise in their programs, and the Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) complements this with specialized knowledge in curriculum and program design. CITL’s approach is guided by principles that are:
- Participatory and learner-centered: Engaging faculty in collaborative processes that prioritize student learning.
- Aligned with institutional frameworks: Ensuring curriculum development reflects Memorial’s academic standards, practices and priorities.
- Evidence-based: Incorporating scholarly research and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
- Focused on continuous quality improvement: Supporting ongoing enhancement of programs and courses.
CITL’s curriculum renewal service is:
- Facilitative: Providing guidance and support tailored to the needs of academic units.
- Process-oriented: Emphasizing a structured, reflective approach to curriculum development.
- Systems-based: Considering the broader academic and institutional context to ensure coherence and alignment.
CITL does not directly facilitate the completion of an academic unit’s separate curriculum renewal phases or components. Rather, we facilitate the curriculum renewal process by:
- Providing curriculum development and renewal expertise.
- Providing supporting resources.
- Providing guidance on the curriculum renewal process.
By partnering with CITL, academic units can strengthen their programs and enhance learning experiences for Memorial students.
