Theme description
The theme for this year’s conference is Putting Innovation into Practice.
Through this theme the university community is invited to share ideas, challenges, perspectives and knowledge in order to create new ways of teaching, learning, doing, knowing and being.
Proposals should engage with at least one of the following:
- Applies experiential and community-based learning as part of teaching.
- Enhances access to learning by offering flexibility in programming.
- Shares experience with the implementation of cutting-edge pedagogies, with the aim to connect and learn from others.
- Mobilizes diverse multi-campus opportunities to be interdisciplinary collaborators.
- Utilizes learning technologies to enhance the learning experience.

The Review Process
Submissions made through the Call for Proposals go through a blind peer review process. Below is the rubric that will be used by reviewers to assess proposals for concurrent sessions. Each criterion will be evaluated on a 5 point Likert Scale. Those considering a submission should ensure their proposal responds to the outlined criterion.

Session formats
All concurrent sessions will be in person (virtual can be accommodated) and scheduled for 50 minutes. Presenters should prepare presentations that include adequate opportunity for Q&A.
Presentation (50 minute)
An oral presentation on a topic related to the conference theme Putting Innovation into Practice. Presenter(s) should consider time for Q&A as part of the presentation.
Workshop (50 minute)
An interactive session where participants can expect to be actively engaged in an innovative teaching experience. The workshop should focus on skill(s) that demonstrates how participants could Putting Innovation into Practice. Proposals submissions should clearly describe the skill(s) being demonstrated or taught.
Facilitated Discussion/Panel (50 minute)
Introduce a topic related to the theme, Putting Innovation into Practice, and guide participants in a conversation where ideas and experiences related to the topic can be shared. The discussion should generate dialogue with the intention to help you and participants build a deeper understanding of the topic.
Lightning Talk (10 minute talk + 5 min Q&A)
A short 10 minute oral presentation on a topic relevant to the theme, Putting Innovation into Practice. The intention of this format is to provide an opportunity to showcase or introduce an innovation without the deep dive of a longer presentation. Three talks will be scheduled in one concurrent session slot.
