Update Your Online Learning Address
Your exam site is based on the Online Learning (OL) address in Memorial Self Service. Keep it accurate to avoid issues.
To Update
- Log in to Memorial Self Service.
- Go to Personal Information – Update Addresses and Phones.
- Update or add your Online Learning (OL) Address.
- Note: If you update your address after the first week of classes, submit a Change of Exam Site Form (fee applies if exams have already been scheduled).
Access Academic Accommodations
All students with disabilities, including those taking online courses, are encouraged to contact Accessibility Services (The Blundon Centre). Please contact the Blundon Centre at least six weeks before classes begin to arrange accommodations (e.g., extra time for exams).
Assistive Technology
The Commons in the QEII Library on the St. John's Campus also offers assistive technology software, hardware and support services.
Four designated assistive technology stations are available in the Assistive Technology Room (L-2001), the Digital Learning Centre and the Commons Classroom. One-on-one tutorials with peer assistive technology tutors are also available.
Understand Academic Integrity
All Memorial students, including those in online courses, are responsible for knowing which actions are considered academic offences.
Please review the procedures and penalties for academic misconduct outlined in the University Academic Calendar. For more information, access these academic integrity resources.
Plan for Exams
Living Outside Newfoundland and Labrador
- Complete an Examination Supervisor Form every semester, before the end of the first week of lectures.
Living In Newfoundland and Labrador
- If you aren’t doing a course at any of Memorial’s campuses (St. John’s, Marine Institute, Grenfell, Labrador), you may be eligible for online proctoring (OP) via ProctorU for exams, if your course offers the option.
- If your course offers OP and you wish to use it, please complete an Examination Supervisor Form.
- Arrangements to write a paper-based exam at an established provincial exam site are based on your OL address in Memorial Self Service. Please ensure it is correct.
Note
- If you cannot write an exam at your regularly scheduled exam site, apply to write it at an alternate site with the Change of Exam Site Form.
- The above information applies only to exams. During the semester, you can submit many assignments directly to your instructor in Brightspace (D2L).
Set Up Your MUN Login
Your MUN login is used for:
- Brightspace.
- Memorial email.
- Memorial Self Service.
To set up your MUN login, go to login.mun.ca, click Create Account and follow the step-by-step instructions.
Get a Campus Card
All students require a Campus Card to write exams. If you do not yet have one when you have to write an exam, you must present two pieces of government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport, etc.) to invigilators instead.
You can request a Campus Card through Memorial Self Service through Campus Card Request under the Student Services tab.
Log In to Your Course
To access your online course, log in through Brightspace (D2L). Each semester, course access typically begins the first day of classes and ends the last day of exams. If you register for a course after the start of the semester, it can take up to six hours for it to appear in Brightspace.
Need Help?
Contact Your Instructor
Online course instructors welcome your inquiries. Their contact information is usually on the Brightspace course site.
Before the semester starts, contact information for your instructor or department can be found in Memorial’s online directory.
