How CITL Supports New Faculty
CITL helps new faculty and instructors succeed through:
- Technical support through the CITL Support Centre.
- Teaching and Learning Exchange (TLX) consultations.
- Learning technology workshops.
- Professional development opportunities.
- Teaching resources and guides.

Teaching Development Days for New Faculty
New Faculty Orientation begins with Teaching Development Days, an in-person event designed to introduce new faculty to Memorial’s teaching culture through presentations, collaborative discussions and hands-on workshops.
CITL will deliver Teaching Development Days for New Faculty during New Faculty Orientation for 2025/26.
During Teaching Development Days, new faculty will:
- Design effective course syllabi that reflect personal teaching philosophies, Memorial guidelines and student-centred learning principles.
- Learn to use Brightspace to enhance learning experiences.
- Explore learning activities and assessment strategies, including AI considerations.
- Reflect on and begin documenting evidence-based teaching practices, in support of promotion and tenure applications.
- Build supportive connections with other Memorial faculty and CITL staff.
Event details:
- Dates: September 3–5, 2025.
- Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Format: In-person workshops and discussions.
- Certificate: Participants receive a Certificate of Participation and a letter confirming involvement.
