FAQ
The theme for this year’s conference is Inspiring Learning, Innovating Teaching. Through this theme, the university community is invited to investigate teaching strategies, discover interactive environments, explore cutting-edge tools and embrace innovative practices that engage students, cultivate curiosity and inspire learning.
Current Memorial faculty, instructors and staff are eligible to present. Undergraduate and graduate students and alumni may present on a topic co-authored with a faculty member, instructor or staff member.
This year’s conference includes multiple session formats to model a variety of modes of engagement and provide different options for participation. Descriptions of these formats, including length and modality, are online. Please note that while we aim to provide the opportunity for remote participation, some formats are only available onsite.
All concurrent sessions will be hosted in classrooms on the St. John’s campus. Standard presentation technology is available in this space. Some presenters for the Spark-an-Idea Talks and Presentations may allow remote participation. In such cases, the participants will access the session using Webex. Depending on the presenter, the Welcome to My Classroom sessions may be available remotely and/or in person. The Interactive Workshops and Teaching Dialogues sessions are face-to-face only.
With the presenters’ permission, sessions will be recorded and shared on YouTube after the conference. This allows those who could not attend the conference to benefit from the information shared. It also provides a great artifact for presenters’ portfolios.
An information session will be held for presenters who may want a quick overview of the presentation rooms and the available technology in advance of the conference. Each presenter will be assigned a moderator who will introduce the session and ensure the session stays within the allotted time. Other support may be considered at the presenter’s request.
