NSSE 2024

NSSE 2024 was administered online to 62 Canadian Institutions during the winter 2024 semester. Sampled students were required to be enrolled in both fall 2023 and winter 2024 semesters.

Administration Summary

Memorial University surveyed 2,473 "First-year" and 1,889 "Senior" students. In total, 521 First-year respondents (~21%) and 334 Senior respondents (~17%) responded to the survey.

Comparison Groups

The NSSE Institutional Report displays core survey results for MUN students alongside those of three comparison groups. NSSE comparison groups may be customized by (a) identifying specific institutions from the list of the past two years of NSSE participants, (b) composing the group by selecting institutional characteristics, or (c) a combination of these. Institutions that chose not to customize received default groupsa that provide relevant comparisons for most institutions.

Snapshot Report

The snapshot report is a brief collection of key results meant as a starting point to promote discussion. If you are new to NSSE, this is a great place to start.

Engagement Indicators Report

NSSE data can be organized into ten Engagement Indicators organized within four major themes. The following report covers the overall results for MUN. Explanations for each indicator can be found here and in the following reports.

High-Impact Practices Report

Due to their positive associations with student learning and retention, certain undergraduate opportunities are designated "high-impact." High-Impact Practices (HIPs) share several traits: They demand considerable time and effort, facilitate learning outside of the classroom, require meaningful interactions with faculty and students, encourage collaboration with diverse others, and provide frequent and substantive feedback.

Multi-Year Report

For institutions participating in multiple NSSE administrations since 2013, the year of the last survey update, this report presents year-to-year results for Engagement Indicators (EIs), High-Impact Practices (HIPs), and key academic challenge items to illustrate patterns of change or stability. It also provides details such as numbers of respondents, standard deviations, and standard errors so that statistical tests can be calculated.
