CALL history
Memorial University is committed to offering the best in continuing education. This isn’t new. We have a long and storied history of extended programming.
MUN Extension Service – 1959 to 1991
MUN Extension was an outreach program known for innovation. The program sent field workers across the province to promote community development. And it used interactive media to foster social change. Memorial eventually adopted more traditional ways of delivering continuing education. But MUN Extension was instrumental in promoting the university. And it expanded our reputation far and wide.
The Division of Lifelong Learning – 2001 to 2012
The Division of Lifelong Learning continued Memorial’s commitment to continuing education. It offered certificate programs, professional development, and personal enrichment courses. It also maintained Memorial’s summer youth camps. In 2012, Memorial restructured the way it delivers continuing education programming. And this allowed individual academic units to develop their own offerings.
CALL – 2024 and beyond
For over a decade, our academic units developed a wide range of programs. In fact, there was so much offered, it was difficult for prospective students to discover everything on their own. So Memorial envisioned a hub. And this hub would act as a central database for all our continuing education offerings.
And that’s how Continuous, Adult and Lifelong Learning (CALL) was born in 2024. We’re here to highlight the full spectrum of programming available. We’re here to serve our communities. And our website will help guide you to your destination. Even if you’re not entirely sure what you’re looking for yet.
A quick look through our programs and courses page might help you find something you really like.
