Character displacement in Sitta nuthatches

Beak sizes (scale) of two species of Sitta are similar in allopatry (sites A & B versus H-M) but are disjunct where they overlap (sites C - G). One hypothesis is that this displacement allows the species to avoid competition by feeding on different seed sizes (after Minkoff 1983)
