Microsatellite
profiles detected by multiplex capillary electrophoresis
Microsatellites can be fluorescently tagged
with the same dyes used in DNA sequencing. With
16 loci [shown as overlapping boxes] spread over four
labeling reactions, each with a separate color [blue, green, yellow [shown in
black], & red],
all 16 loci can be combined in a single multiplex
experiment. Allelic variants at each locus are
identifiable as a particular color over the size range
specific to the locus.
