McKenna's Classification of Primata
An extreme case of nomenclatorial precision in a cladistic classification of Primates. Besides the standard categories of Class and Order; McKenna developed a classification that included the seldom-used Legion and Cohort categories, and further inflected these with Magn-, Super-, Sub-, and Infra- prefixes, for a total of ten intermediate categories. Among these, only three taxon names (Theria, Eutheria, & Archonta) are in common use. (From Wiley 1981, after McKenna)
