Tandem & Dispersed Repeats
Members of a DNA sequence family may occur as
multiple copies dispersed ["interspersed"]
over multiple chromosomes, or as a series of tandem
repeats on a single chromosome. Tandem repeats are
the basis of DNA
fingerprinting.
