Genetic Engineering of
a modified Ti plasmid
A small intermediate vector is constructed
that contains the gene of interest, as well as two antibiotic resistance
genes (spcR & kanR). The intermediate
vector is genetically recombined with a "disarmed" form of Ti that
lacks the tumor-gall production genes, but which does contain portions
of the T-DNA region that are necessary for insertion into the plant
chromosome.
