Model for Germline Therapy

A genetically-engineered transgene is introduced into a fertilized egg. The transgene is incorporated into the genome at the single-cell stage, and will therefore be present in all tissues, including reproductive cells (eggs or sperm). The adult expresses the transgene phenotype (black) and can pass the transgene on to it's offspring by ordinary Mendelian rules.
