A gradualist perspective on Equid evolution.

Connections between species are shown as curved lines, implying gradual rates of change. Evolution proceeds upwards and to the right, implying that Equus is the end-point of horse evolution. The iconography of horse phylogeny  is influenced by the "slow & gradual" model of evolution.
