The complete 17Kbp mtDNA genome of the Atlantic Cod (Gadus morhua) has been assembled from a set of 31 overlapping, contiguous PCR products ("contigs"). The individual sequence segments vary from 0.4 ~ 1.0 Kbp in length and overlap by 20 ~ 100 bp.
