Archibald Garrod

Archibald Garrod (1857 - 1936)

Garrod was a physician with broad scientific interests, and became aware of the re-discovery of Mendelian principles quite early on. He was the first to apply this to a specific human medical condition, Alkaptonuria, characterized by accumulation of black pigment in the urine and depositions in the cartilage.
