Model of Stabilizing Selection

The phenotypic distribution before selection is a relatively broad bell-curve. The Fitness Function is also a bell curve, so that phenotypes close to the population mean have greatest fitness. The result of selection is truncation of the tails of the distribution, so the trait variance is reduced while the mean remains the same.
