Biology Students Receive Awards at Science Atlantic Conference
The students were joined at the conference by Department of Biology Faculty member, Dr. Craig Purchase who said:
"100 students and 23 faculty members attended the Science Atlantic conferences at Acadia University this weekend. MUN sent 5 Biology students and 2 Marine Biology students. Two Biology students received awards:
People's choice award - Applied Aquatic Sciences Conference, Parker Sullivan MUN (Biology student, supervised by Bill Montevecchi)
People's Choice Award - Biology Conference, James Murphy MUN (Biology student, supervised by Dave Wilson)"
James Murphy had this to say about his experience at the conference:
"Presenting at Science Atlantic was an amazing opportunity. I not only met amazing students from across the Maritimes who are now my friends, but I also became closer with those from my school who travelled with me. Presenting in front of these students was much easier than anticipated, due to the encouraging and friendly atmosphere coming from the audience made of students just like myself. I was honoured to win the People's Choice Award for the Biology Oral Presentations and am incredibly proud of my peers for their hard work and dedication to scientific research which they expressed at this amazing conference."
Congratulations to James & Parker and to all who attended Science Atlantic and a special thanks to Dr. Craig Purchase for organizing MUN's participation.
