What if I fail Chemistry 2400?

Failing Chemistry 2400 can be a setback, but there are still options to complete your Biochemistry degree on time. First, go and ask to review your examination in Chemistry 2400. Discuss the advisability of applying for a re-read with your chemistry professor (a re-read will cost money). In the event that you still have a failing grade in Chemistry 2400, below are options you can take to recover and stay on track with your academic goals.

  • Winter Semester: You can take Chemistry 2400 in the Winter semester, and Chemistry 2401 during the Spring semester (if available).
  • Check Availability: Confirm with the Chemistry Department at Memorial University if these courses will be offered during the Winter and Spring semesters.
  • Transfer Credit: Alternatively, you could take Chemistry 2400/2401 at another university and transfer the credits. Make sure to verify the transfer eligibility with the Chemistry Department at Memorial.

Note: These options may come at a cost and could affect your summer employment plans. However, if you aim to complete an Honours degree in Biochemistry, this might be a viable way to stay on schedule.

Register for Chemistry 2400 in the Winter semester, which will serve as a prerequisite for Biochemistry courses and help you stay on track for completing your Biochemistry (Nutrition) major on time.

Additional Steps:

  1. Review Your Exam: First, ask to review your examination in Chemistry 2400. Discuss with your professor the possibility of applying for a re-read, though note that this will come at an additional cost.
  2. Consult Your Advisor: If you're unsure of which path to take or need further assistance, it's always a good idea to consult with your academic advisor or the Biochemistry Advising Office.
