Four awards presented at Convocation to outstanding graduating students from the Biochemistry Department are:

University Medal for Academic Excellence in Biochemistry

University Medal for Academic Excellence in Biochemistry(Nutrition)

The University Medals for Academic Excellence in Biochemistry and Biochemistry(Nutrition) are given in the graduating year to the candidates for Bachelor's degrees who are recommended by the Head of Department of Biochemistry. The Awards are made by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Society of Chemical Industry Merit Award in Biochemistry

The student graduating in Honours Biochemistry with the highest standing will receive a suitably engraved gold key and a year's subscription to Chemistry and Industry. The recipient must have obtained an overall average of at least 75%, completed the course programme in the normal number of years, and be recommended to the Senate Committee on Scholarships by the Head, Department of Biochemistry.

Grace Morgan Prize in Biochemistry (Nutrition)

This prize is for the student graduating in honors Biochemistry (Nutrition) with the highest standing. The recipient must have obtained an overall average of at least 75%, completed the course programme in the normal number of years and be recommended to the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships and Financial Aid by the Head, Department of Biochemistry.

The awards presented at the Departmental Reception to outstanding graduating students from the Biochemistry Department are:

 

Mookerjea Prize

Awarded to students who are on the Dean's List for all years of their programme. Students could be Honours or Majors in Biochemistry or Biochemistry (Nutrition).

 

Head's Prize

Awarded to Honours students in Biochemistry or in Biochemistry (Nutrition) who have received an 'A' grade in all BIOC courses (i.e. courses with a BIOC number).

 

Brosnan Prize

Awarded to Honours students in one of our joint honours programmes who have received an 'A' grade in the 26 required courses of the programme.

Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism - Undergraduate Research Excellence Award
