Biochemistry Research Highlights
The Department of Biochemistry maintains a number of common equipment rooms (see right menu) in which modern equipment is available to all members of the department.
Through the Core Research Equipment and Instrument Training (CREAIT) Network researchers have access to other major research equipment including CE, CE/MS, LC/MS, GC/MS, FTIR, Flame and Graphite Furnance AA, MALDI-ToF MS, API-MS, NMR, X-Ray Crystallography and ABI DNA Analyzers.
As an added asset for studies involving marine animals, the excellent research facilities of the Department of Ocean Sciences are also available (on arrangement with the director). Several members of the Department of Biochemistry and of the Faculty of Medicine (housed in the Health Sciences Centre) are cross-appointed, resulting in collaborative projects as well as in sharing of facilities. The Queen Elizabeth library has excellent facilities for study and research.
