On May 30, 2018 we held our Convocation event and said goodbye to 22 B. Sc. (Honours) graduates, 44 B.Sc. graduates, and 21 graduates from other departments with Minors in Biochemistry. Maaran Suntharamoorthy received a Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science and Alaa Al-Jaroudi, Welaa, Al-Jaroudi, Scott Bray, and Julia Chalker all received a M.Sc. in Biochemistry.

There has been a longstanding tradition at our convocation reception whereby the head or deputy head donates a special prize to the student in 499B (the honours project course) who has their thesis submitted first. There are usually about 15 – 20 students in the class who are eligible to win. This year’s winners were Ryan Wade (Fall 2017 submission) and Kaiwen Liu (Winter 2018 submission).
