Graduate Student Funding

SGS Baseline Fellowships

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) offers Baseline Fellowship funding to support graduate students in the Biochemistry program. These fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to students upon acceptance into the program.

Candidates are automatically considered for SGS Baseline funding as part of their application package. The evaluation is based on the applicant’s overall qualifications and application materials.

Key Deadlines and Application Process

Applications for SGS Baseline funding will be assessed alongside admission applications according to the Department's deadlines:

  • March 1
  • July 1
  • November 1

Decisions will be communicated to applicants and their supervisors within one month of the deadline.

For applications submitted after the deadline, students who wish to enroll before the next competition will be considered for admission on a rolling basis, but SGS Baseline funding will not be available until the next competition. These students will be evaluated for SGS Baseline funding at the following competition cycle.

Unsuccessful applicants will automatically be included in the next competition, where they will be reassessed based on their application package.

Students transferring into the PhD program who are not currently receiving Baseline funding may update their graduate CV and transcripts. They will then be evaluated alongside other PhD students during the next competition.

There will be no preference given to Canadian or international students in the evaluation process.
