Abstract:
In this career talk, I will share my personal journey from completing my education in post-partition India to becoming a nutritional biochemist and professor at a Canadian university. I will discuss the challenges I have encountered as an immigrant and a woman of color in the scientific community, highlighting the importance of resilience and the rewarding moments that have shaped my career. Finally, I will address the critical issues surrounding equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), exploring the barriers that persist and the ongoing work needed to foster a more inclusive environment in academia and beyond.
