Congratulations from our president
I am so pleased to welcome you, our newest group of graduates, to our alumni family! I have had the opportunity to travel throughout this vibrant province, and meet many of the wonderful alumni who compose our family of approximately 100,000 across the world.
Wherever you may travel and work, my hope is that you remain connected with the people you met and the lessons you learned during your time at Memorial. We offer numerous programs and initiatives to support you as you begin your career, and a variety of ways to remain connected to us as you move through life.
Through programming and mentorship, such as Ten Thousand Coffees and the GlobalNL network, graduates can mentor current students and continue on the lifelong learning journey by connecting with individuals further down their career paths.
Join Coast Lines book club, which celebrates the rich literary landscape of Newfoundland and Labrador, and connects alumni and friends of Memorial through a common love of reading and discussion. Anyone can join, whether you’re alumni or friends of Memorial! Or take part in MUNalum 101 - a series of online events discussing a diverse range of subjects you’d like to learn more about. From folklore to archaeology to implicit bias, from cannabis to vaccinations and beyond, with MUNalum 101, there’s something for everyone!
As we begin to ease back into a post-COVID 19 life, in-person events will begin to make a comeback. I can’t wait to meet some of our newest graduates!
Please be sure to update your alumni profile, and connect with us on social media. There are many ways to remain connected with Memorial, whether it’s through our programming and events or choosing to pay it forward by making a gift to help tomorrow’s students. And please, keep us posted on all of your future successes – we love to celebrate our alumni!
I am sending you my warmest congratulations.
Sincerely,
Dr. Vianne Timmons, OC
