Coast Lines: Memorial University Book Club
Coast Lines is about encouraging Memorial University alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends to connect through a common love of reading and of literature from Newfoundland and Labrador.
The art deco-style rugged coastlines in Coast Line's visual identity represent a contemporary take on the nature, culture and economy of a changing Newfoundland and Labrador. Our province is rapidly changing; we are not focused solely on traditional NL heritage any longer, but on our role as home to people from a variety of backgrounds. This perspective in turn echoes Memorial University’s focus on inclusion and diversity.
Coast Lines’ highlights both the importance of lifelong learning for the Memorial University community, and the role of our hugely successful creative writing program based in the Department of English, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The program has played and continues to play a key role in the development and in the careers of Newfoundland and Labrador writers, most of whom have either graduated from the program or taking individual classes.
