Screening and discussion of Bernd Schoch's 2011 documentary about the Schlippenbach Trio, one of the most significant and longest-standing ensembles in experimental jazz and improvised music featuring pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach, saxophonist Evan Parker, and drummer Paul Lovens.

Screening of Bernard Josse's 2011 documentary about the distinguished saxophonist and clarinetist Peter Brötzmann followed by a conversation between Mr. Brötzmann and Harald Kisiedu, IICSI Postdoctoral Fellow.

This day-long symposium will feature presentations by researchers and music festival programmers from across Newfoundland to explore the potential of arts festivals to promote social change. Keynote address by Ajay Heble, IICSI Project Director and founding artistic director of the Guelph Jazz Festival.
